Explosion

This one is a really fun project I'm doing. It's a representation of my mind and all the new ideas exploding out of it after having done the classes I took this semester. The cannon, which at first was going to be an urn, is the symbolism of my mind, it has a nature vibe to it as I myself am a nature lover, and along with it, is the key to start the cannon. The key I received online and comes from the anime Fairy Tail, it is the Zodiac Key for the Celestial Spirit Taurus, my zodiac sign. The explosion from the cannon is the bursting of all the new ideas and creations that I'm wanting to do after this semester is over, along with new tools and ideas for creating those ideas into physical form.

Two Sides of the Same Darkness

This project is one that's been on my mind for a while ever since we were told to do a project over something in society today. With the recent Kesha case, I decided to do mine over rape. Not only for women but men as well since Men DO face rape from both other men and, yes, even women too. I'm glad that I talked to two amazing art professors for ideas on how to do this, because with their help, this project came out even more amazing than I had originally planned.
The male side has different visual representations of what goes through their psyche after being raped i.e. powerlessness and confusion, or even the literal icon of a pansy.
The female side has of course, the literal scarlet letter and a sense of lost purity and a broken self image.
In the background are the excuses men and women face as a means of justifying rape. However, the excuses are flipped on each gender, with the female facing the male excuses and the male facing the female's. Amongst all of the crushing self imagery and vile words, is a budding sense of hope for a different tomorrow.
I hope you all rally enjoy this piece!

Self Portraits

Among one of the last projects I had to do for my incredible, if stressful, semester, was doing a self portrait. I had fun doing this in two different classes, both in my style. The top one being my anime/realism style and the bottom done entirely out of charcoal. Yes, that is what I look like and what I see myself as in an anime style. I'm incredibly proud of how it all turned out and it showcases my range of what I can do. I especially love the stencils I used on my background for my anime one and I hope you all enjoy them too!

Balance

This was actually among one of the first projects I had done over the course of the semester, however, this one was not for any art class but for my religion class. We were to draw out the Yin-yang used in Chinese religions. I chose to elaborate on it more and turn it into a massive art piece, showing the separate sides of the Yin and Yang and the symbolism of each.

Nature Cross

This one was a quick and simple project and for a really good cause as well. Our class, this semester got together in pairs to come up with different cross designs for Alzheimer's patients. My friend Alexandra and I, both huge nature lovers, decided to do a more natural cross. We used just a little bit of paint on it before covering the rest with moss and frayed rope. It's a beautiful cross and I hope everyone enjoys it!

Scratchboard Project

I know, I know, not a really fancy title. This project hit most to home for me, due to the fact that before the semester began I had lost my best friend, my dog Montana. So upon hearing about this scratchboard project, I knew IMMEDIATELY what I was going to do. Both I, and my family love this piece and it's a way of capturing all the fond memories of this lovable mutt into one single piece.

Patterns and Colors

This is the second part of the design project my class did this semester. This one was slightly less free reigned since we had to follow Elements of Principle and Design. Upon doing this, I figured out that I have a real taste for patterns, even though some of the patterns were more tedious than others to fill up. My absolute favorite thing to work with on this were Sharpie brush markers I had bought. Seriously, everyone should try those out they're amazing!
